Historical text in preparation

The cemetery office holds the archival material tracing the history of the cemetery and the parish. This text will be written from those documents and published here.

[TO BE CONFIRMED]: founding dates, names of parish priests and administrators, stages of the grounds' expansion, notable figures and families, and the parish's heritage status.

The parish

The cemetery and its parish

The cemetery is not an independent business: it is the property of Saint-Laurent Parish and operates under its responsibility.

That connection is why a columbarium stands inside the church itself, and why a priest can accompany families at the time of burial.

Traces of that history on the grounds

The oldest part of the cemetery, the SECTION OUEST, stands out for its large monuments and its irregular layout, very different from the modern sections laid out in regular rows. It also holds the charnel house and an early columbarium.
